The Great Uncluttering by Carolyn Moore - $8
ISBN 0-98-192002-0

When we selected Ms. Moore as one of our contest winners we had no idea she’s been cited as an emerging writer by Margin (a magazine of and about magical realism) or that she is a master maskmaker who combines her craft with poetry and performance.  We didn’t know about her awards, fellowships, and honorable mentions or that she’d written a poem that was a finalist for the Pablo Neruda Prize.  We were ignorant of her intense participation in the creation of the Green Party.  We just said, “Wow - this is really great - this woman knows how to wield her intellect without leaving us in the cold.”  Ms. Moore felt so drawn to the illustrations of Chris Weeks that we asked him to provide the line-drawings illustrating the cover and interior - turns out it’s a perfect fit.

Pretty Scary Jack O'Lanterns by Mary Leary - $8
ISBN 0-98-192001-2

At a certain point she’d seen so many self-produced and vanity-pressed chapbooks, many by undistinguished writers, that for her they had lost credibility.  After about 20 years of writing the author finally decided it was okay to make a chapbook when she’d several times been offered an ISBN number (which didn’t end up with the 1st edition) by a writer/publisher she highly respected, had been included in an anthology by a major publisher and then had her contributions to that anthology applauded in the Boston and San Francisco Reviews of Books, and had a book of micro-fiction published by Permeable Press.  This chapbook was subsequently born - and now, in a second edition, resurfaces with lovely new cover art by evocative painter Thomas Belloff.
